10/02/2002 - Chrome Trimmed Z3 Gill - By: John Luis
I've always loved the M roadsters Gills but since I decided on the Z3 3.0, I felt it would be somehow wrong to buy some M gills and add them to the Z. So I have been looking for a way to add a little something to the originals.
10/02/2002 - Moon Roof Shade - By: Peter Bowers
For those of you who drive a Z3 Coupe, this is for you. I'm not sure if all Z3 Coupes are the same, but mine is a 1999 with the flip-up glass moon roof without a sliding interior cover. BMW did a noteworthy job of heavily tinting the glass panel that is a large portion of the roof. However, when the sun is high in the sky on a clear day, you get baked on even the shortest drives.
10/01/2002 - Hardtop Hoist - By: Brad Husick
After receiving a new hardtop for my 1999 M Roadster. I needed a place to keep the top in good weather. I did some research and decided to buy the E-ZTop from The Hard Top Hoist Company in Houston, TX.

09/10/2002 - Droopy Glovebox - By: Mark Watkins
The factory installed glove box on my 1997 1.9 Z3 was definitely not an area that BMW decided to spend a lot of time on. After a few years the stamped plastic box began to sag in the middle under the weight of the glove box door and its contents. And who wants droopy drawers in their sports car? Here is an easy fix that will cost you about $5 and take around an hour to complete.

12/28/2001 - Fighting Brake Squeaks - By: Robert Leidy
For some reason I associate brake squeak with old junker cars. It was embarrassing for me when my Z3 started making those annoying high pitched squeaks every time I came to a stop sign. After some research the solution was cheap and easy.
12/28/2001 - Changing Brake Pads - By: Robert Leidy
After 60,000 miles on the stock brake pads I assumed I was getting close to needing to change them. I've been pleased with the performance of the stock BMW brake pads, but the brake dust was always a mess. I wanted to find some replacement pads that offered equal performance but without all the brake dust mess.

08/28/2001 - Chrome Roll Hoops - By: Robert Leidy

07/12/2001 - TopDown Windscreen - By: Nathaniel Hollywood
TopDown's windscreen attaches to the roll hoops on the later model Z3's, on a total of 6 points, using Velcro-based fasteners. This windscreen is made of clear 1/4 inch Plexiglas. When installed, it does not shift or rattle. I ran my car up to 100 mph, and it didn't flex or move about.

the Z3 Solution alternative to the free BMW window blanket. The Z3 Solution product has been designed to minimize or eliminate the dreaded "wave" which forms when you leave the top down on your Z3. It does this by providing extra padding in critical areas.
06/06/2001 - LeatherZ MK2 Armrest - By: Carter Lee

06/06/2001 - VDO Oil Pressure Gauge - By: Shawn McCurdy
The BMW M coupe comes with a warning light for oil pressure, as well as an oil temperature gauge in the center console. I'd like to know if my oil pressure drops below normal without waiting for the oil warning light to come on at 7 PSI, so I decided to install a VDO oil pressure gauge.

06/05/2001 - Cleaning the Conforti Air Intake System - By: Robert Leidy
I'm a big fan of the Conforti Air Intake System, since installation the unit has not given me any trouble and has offered great performance (plus it sounds good). But the time had come to clean the filter. Thankfully cleaning this air intake is nowhere near as involved as cleaning the Dinan air intake.
06/05/2001 - BMW Roll Hoop Retrofit - By: Richard Carlson
If your BMW Z3 does not have rollhoops it may be possible to retrofit them into your vehicle. BMW has an upgrade kit, but it can only be used on Z3s built on or after 1/97. Specifically 1.9 VIN LB83105 and later; 2.8 VIN LC01377 and later. No earlier production will work and remember some "1997" cars were actually built in 1996.
04/16/2001 - Harman TrafficPro - By: Carter Lee
At Homecoming 2000 last Labor Day Weekend, there was an additional commotion beyond the regular vendor area frenzy. Harman Industries of Harman/Kardon kept a Pistachio Green roadster in their tent to show off a special head unit called the TrafficPro. This gadget is befitting of our "Bond-cars" in that aside from being a DIN-sized in-dash CD Player, it integrates a GPS Navigation system.

03/31/2001 - City Lights Project - By: Richard Carlson
Not really daytime running light, more correctly should be called "City Lights". This upgrade lights up your high beams when your parking lights are turned on. "Rounds out" the light display on the front of the car when the low beams are turned on. And best of all it's an inexpensive upgrade.
03/30/2001 - SSR Competition Wheels and Kumho V700 Tires - By: Nathan Fong
When I started autocrossing my car, I used stock 16" tires & wheels, even though I race in the ASP class in North Carolina & Virginia, which allows for larger & wider systems. I found myself a consistent 2 seconds back from the winner. So I promised myself that I would go to the next step to start winning some races if not close the gap, by purchasing a tire/wheel set for autocrossing.
03/29/2001 - Valentine-1 Installation - By: Emil Dotchevski
In search for a power source to wire up my V-1, I found the article "Finding power in your center console" by Vince Parsons. Sure enough, I found the connector he describes, and started thinking how to run the wire and stuff. Then I realized that the connector that's part of the wiring kit that comes with V-1 is the exact size of the tabs next to the ASC button on the console in my '97 1.9 Z3.

During the downtown Greenville party at 2000 Z3 Homecoming I noticed this really good looking black and gray 1.9 Z3. These custom seats appear to have originally been gray leatherette seats that have had custom black inserts added to them. The two tone look was very striking with the black exterior paint.

So I concentrated my search to muffler replacement only.

I always thought the M Coupe on it's own drew attention but it was nothing compared to the attention I get with a couple bikes on the roof.
08/20/2000 - Strong-Strut Tower Brace - By: Leroy Cubicciotti
Not surprisingly, my M Roadster displays a subtle cacophony of assorted squeaks and rattles which seem to be standard equipment on even the stoutest of convertibles. It was suggested that a strut tower brace could provide help eliminate some of these squeaks. I'm always eager to try out the latest upgrade, so I ordered a Strong-Strut.
08/14/2000 - Custom Checkerboard Stripe - By: Chris in Atlanta
The shop could have done essentially any design, but I liked the checkerboard that they had in their ad. Starts under the driver side headlight, on the air dam, swoops over the hood, down the side, and drapes all the way over the trunk to the drivers rear wheel well.
07/17/2000 - Skaggs Pedals - By: Shawn Fogg
I have been wanting to install a set of aluminum pedals for quite awhile on my Z3. Most of the sets I've seen I don't really care for the looks of. A few months back a friend sent me some pictures of the pedals that John Skaggs builds, installed on his M Coupe. After seeing them they were the ones for me.
07/06/2000 - Conforti/Shark Air Intake System - By: Leroy Cubicciotti
Jim C has obviously gone to a lot of trouble to design a system which maintains a factory appearance under the hood. The black plastic intake pipe attaches to the mass air sensor with factory-like spring clamps and the black shield, with its seal, looks very much like the electronics bay next to the firewall on the right side of the engine compartment. The hose clamp which secures the ITG filter to the intake pipe appears to be identical to the BMW clamp which secures the rubber air duct to the back of the mass air sensor, and the ITG filter itself has a really businesslike look with black foam filter and aluminum trumpet. Very attractive!
06/12/2000 - Sound System Upgrade - By: Thomas Young
Anyone who has visited the Z3 message board has come across many discussions and complaints about the stereo system in the Z3. One would think that for the money (and the fact that its a convertible) it would have a decent sound system. My '98 roadster came equipped with the Harmon Kardon upgrade which offers a few more speakers and the infamous sub-woofer system.
05/09/2000 - Pro-Road Racer Pedal Set - By: Leroy Cubicciotti
A popular after market accessory among Bimmer owners is a racy looking pedal set. Most offer a cosmetic advantage only, but a pedal set I saw in BMP Design's catalog, called the Pro-Road Racer Pedals, offers real practical benefits to drivers who pride themselves on their expert high-performance driving techniques.
05/05/2000 - The Fogg/Fong'ed 2.8 Cold Air Intake - By: Nathan Fong

05/01/2000 - Black Wood Dash Kit - By: Robert Leidy
To my knowledge this is the only black wood dash kit made for the BMW Z3. It is an evaluation kit made my a company in Korea. However just after developing this evaluation kit the model year 2000 Z3s showed up and it was apparent that this kit was already out of date so the manufacturer decided to cancel the project.

BMW makes two different windshield washer sprayers for the Z3, a regular version and heated version. www.ZChrome.com sells a chrome version of the regular BMW windshield washer sprayers. 03/05/2000 - Conforti OBDII Reprogram - By: Leroy Cubicciotti
There may be little that the participants in the web's BMW bulletin boards agree on, but one product which seems to receive almost unanimous approval is Jim Conforti's line of Landshark chips and OBDII programs, so I decided to give Jim's reprogram a try on my M Roadster.
03/04/2000 - Rear View Mirror Adapter - By: Shawn Fogg
A very common owner complaint is that the rear view mirror blocks a large portion of your forward vision out to the right side. With this mirror adapter and a GM mirror you can position the mirror so its top edge is hitting the header just to the front of the dome light. This gives you the best forward view possible.
