Robert's 2001 Z3 Homecoming Web Journal

Tech TentSaturday morning, Z3s and their owners gathered at the BMW factory. You had a choice of getting in line for the homecoming photo, or the factory tech tent. I decided to get in the tech tent line and have some door dings removed.

BMW Manufacturing prepared for this event by shuffling some schedules inside the factory to free up BMW factory techs to come out and work on the cars. The techs are obviously experienced and get a lot of practice inside the factory, but working on owners cars is a different kind of experience.

I witnessed one lady oversee the repair of her Z3, with a watchful eye she hovered over them with great interest in their every move. A large door dent was removed, paint was touched up and buffed to perfection. As the team of techs completed working on her car she was so impressed she just had to give each one of them a big hug. The look on the tech's faces suggested they don't get that kind of response working inside the factory.

A BMW representative told me that is one of the main reasons why BMW Manufacturing puts so much effort into the Z3 homecoming. The excitement that the Z3 owners bring back to the factory really impacts and renews the BMW associates inside the factory.
